Deer Management Plans

Why create a Deer Management Plan?

The point of a DMP is to have a strategy that all stakeholders involved can agree on and refer back to if needs be. In many cases the stakeholders will only consist of the deer stalker and the landowner, but in more complicated cases this could also include a tenant farmer, forester, and government bodies such as Natural England or the Forestry Commission. In fact, an increasing number of land managers are being required to have a DMP by government bodies in order to comply with the terms of grant schemes.
